53% reduction of foreign matter defects in optical film lamination process
Case study of a manufacturer of highly-functional films and adhesive tape processed products
Roll-to-roll laminating equipment had been causing many foreign matter defects, which had become a problem. An air-assisted ionizer was used for the laminating film and the main film as countermeasure against static electricity during transport, but foreign matter rolled up by the air-assisted ionizer caused foreign matter defects to occur. So, the static and foreign matter countermeasures in the equipment were reviewed, and the air-assisted ionizers were replaced with no-blow ionizer, BAR TRINC (TAS-311 BAM), which reduced foreign matter defects by 53%. |
